Say Less, Do More, Be More: Adventure Sports Edition

With adventure sports becoming a trend among all youngsters, many of you must have tried sports like skydiving, mountain biking, river crossing, etc. While these sports give you an adrenaline rush, you have to make sure that you keep your safety in mind. Here, we take a look at 5 tips you will need when you first try out an adventure sport.

1. Go through a Medical Check-Up

So, you have chosen the sport you want to try out. You are nervous and excited at the same time. But before you go and commit on that, just keep calm and analyse! The first step towards your safety would be getting a medical check-up before you try out any adventure sport. A medical check-up will determine whether you are fit or not to try out the adventure activity. Often people who are diabetic, have heart problems or blood pressure are advised not to go for any adventure sports. It is better that you see a doctor before you try out any adventure activity.

2. Safety Gear

The first rule of adventure sports is to wear the safety gear provided to you. You don’t need to buy this equipment as there are various outlets that would provide the types of equipment on rent. Safety gear such as helmets, life jackets and padding are utmost important as they can prevent injuries. Make sure that you are wearing the gear properly. Also, learn how to use this equipment as you might have to operate them while participating in that adventure sport.

3. Proper Clothing

When it comes to adventure sports, you can’t just wear anything. While bikinis and speedos are a big no-no, wearing jeans also won’t be appropriate. You can wear comfortable clothes like T-shirts, shorts and sports shoes for adventure activities so that it’s easy for you to move and run. So, make sure that your clothes don’t disrupt your activity or end up causing any injury.

4. Don’t Miss Your Sessions

Before you start any adventure sport, free sessions are provided to you so that you get an idea of what you have to do and how do you have to save yourself. Make sure that you attend these sessions so that when the D-Day comes, you know what you are doing. The guides provide a bunch of information about safety gears and the techniques that you can use in the sport and also tell you how to avoid getting injured. So, the best way to stay safe would be listening to them.

5. Medical Help

When you go for any thrilling and perilous sport, make sure that you are carrying a first aid kit with you. After all, you are not Superman! First Aid kits can easily help you out if you get injured, till you get proper medical help. Also, opt for any activity only if you are provided with an ambulance nearby. Medical help is very important when it comes adventure sports as injuries are bound to happen.

Human nature always tends to explore the unexplored. If you really think that adventure is dangerous, just try staying back at home (which is considered as lethal for most of us!). Well, if you long for thrills and chills just keep the above things in mind, before you try your hands at it.
