Showdown: Surface Pro 3 vs Surface Pro 4

Now that Microsoft has launched the new Surface Pro 4 in the market, the buzz in the town is that it is much better than Surface Pro 3. A competition for Apple’s iPad and MacBook, we decided to compare the two to get an idea of its features. Let’s have a look at what we found out.

1. Design and Display

While the pixel count of Surface Pro 3 is 2160x1440, its successor went way beyond and made it 2763x1824. It was quite hyped when Surface Pro 3 was launched with a 12-inch display, but then again, Surface Pro 4 made a grand entry with its 12.3-inch display. Also, this new gadget has a higher contrast and lower glare from its predecessor and is lighter to carry. It has tighter bezels that just make it more attractive along with its silver magnesium encasing.

Verdict: Long story short, Surface Pro 4 has certainly made its design and display better than Surface Pro 3.

2. Camera

Surface Pro 4 provides you an 8mega-pixel camera along with rear facing autofocus, while Surface Pro 3 has a 5mega-pixel camera. The only correlation between the two is that both the gadgets have a 5mega-pixel camera which you can use for conference calls and selfies.

Verdict: We can surely say that Surface Pro 4 has a better camera functionality than its predecessor.

3. Surface Pen

The Surface Pen that you get with Surface Pro 4 has certainly changed a lot. Unlike the pen with Surface Pro 3, which provided 256 levels of pressure sensitivity, this new Surface Pen will give you 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity (which is quite a lot!). Also, it has an eraser on the top and can get attached to the Surface Pro 4, unlike its predecessor.

Verdict: It is an efficient pen for all those creative artists who want to express themselves through their artistic skills which have been tweaked for good!

4. Hardware

While it was said Microsoft hasn’t launched Surface Pro 3 with high end performance, Surface Pro 4 changes it all. It has 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage, so the memory can be expanded, while Surface Pro 3 has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The successor runs on Windows 10 while the predecessor runs on Windows 8.1.

Verdict: It’s decided! When it comes to hardware, Surface Pro 4 has certainly won the medal.

5. Type Cover

What is the best improvement in Surface Book 4? It's type cover! Its latest version has improved every iteration. Along with getting a new look, it has a smoother touch-pad that works better than Surface Pro 3. Also, if you want, you can use this new type cover with Surface Pro 3.

Verdict: Well I have to say that this change in the type cover has certainly made Surface users very happy.
